Toronto Hospital Declares Zero Active COVID-19 Patients
June 17, 2020 – ICU Staff of the Toronto General Hospital shed tears of joy and applauded themselves as a small celebration of victory. For the first time in fifteen months, the hospital’s ICU reported no active covid-19 patients for almost a year and a half.
Since March 2020, the medical staff of the Toronto General Hospital has been facing long duty hours and sleepless nights responding to the three waves of COVID-19 that had resulted in uncompromising work conditions.
Denise Morris, nurse manager of the unit stated that their first case was March 26, 2020, and now they are COVID-free. There are still patients in the hospital that are being treated for longer-haul symptoms coming from their infections. However, having no active patients with COVID-19 is still a win.
