Canada’s westernmost and smallest province is Yukon. It is also the least populated province of the country. The province’s name was after the longest river in the province, Yukon. Whitehorse is the only city and the capital of Yukon Province and has wonderful landscapes and a healthy lifestyle. Yukon has an abundant natural resources and locals are very welcoming of newcomers. Like many other cities and provinces in Canada, Yukon also has a diverse population with 25% of it being indigenous. To attract more immigrants and help contribute to the province’s economic development, Yukon Province offers a Provincial Nomination Program that helps immigrants who want to settle in the province to be able to get to Canada faster. One of the main agencies that welcomes and helps immigrants to the province is the Multicultural Centre of Yukon.

What is the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)?

Because Yukon only has an estimate of over 30,000 people, their government created a provincial nominee program that will attract foreign workers to immigrate and settle in their province. That way, these immigrants will also help boost their economy and community while staying in their country.

Yukon Skilled Worker
this stream gives opportunity for Yukon employers to nominate foreign workers who are skilled and eligible to fill important gaps within the Yukon workforce. This category targets workers that are classified as skill level 0, A, or B.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid job offer from a Yukon employer with a NOC code of 0, A or B
  • Must have an international equivalent of a High School diploma and any education required to perform the job offer
  • Language Proficiency with a passing score of CLB 7 or higher
  • Work experience related to the job offer that they received

Yukon Express Entry
Skilled workers that have a permanent and full-time job offer in Yukon is allowed to apply to this stream. Job offer under this category must be under skill level 0, A or B.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be registered in the federal Express Entry pool
  • Valid job offer from an eligible Yukon employer
  • Language Proficiency with a passing score of CLB 7 or as stated by the federal Express Entry
  • Meet the settlement fund requirements as determined by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

Yukon Critical Impact Worker
In this category, YNP gives employers a chance to nominate foreign individuals that has experience in occupations that are classified as low-skilled for Canadian permanent residence. Occupations for this criterion falls under the NOC skill level C or D.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid job offer from an eligible Yukon employer
  • Language Proficiency with a passing score of CLB 4 or higher
  • Must have an international equivalent of a High School diploma and any education required to perform the job offer
  • At least 6 months of full time work experience under NOC skill level C or D

Yukon Business Nominee
This stream is open to all entrepreneurs who aspire to establish or purchase a business in Yukon.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Language Proficiency with a passing score of CLB 4 or higher
  • Must have an international equivalent of a High School diploma
  • At least three (3) years of entrepreneurial or business management experience and five (5) years of related work experience
  • Investment amount of $300,00 CAD and Personal Net Worth of $500,000 CAD
