Yukon

Canada’s westernmost and smallest province is Yukon. It is also the least populated province of the country. The province’s name was after the longest river in the province, Yukon. Whitehorse is the only city and the capital of Yukon Province and has wonderful landscapes and a healthy lifestyle. Yukon has an abundant natural resources and locals are very welcoming of newcomers. Because of this, immigrants continue to arrive and settle in the province. Yukon’s immigrants are mainly to its capital city, Whitehorse.

Northwest Territories

Bordered by Nunavut to the east, provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan to the South and Yukon on the west, Northwest Territories is second to the largest territory in Canada. It extends from 60th parallel to the North Pole and includes several large islands located in the Arctic Ocean. Northwest Territories has long nights during winter season ranging from -20 – 50 degrees and long days during summer season. Yellowknife is the capital of the territory and it has the largest population.

British Columbia

Canada’s third largest western-most province is British Columbia. British Columbia borders the Pacific Ocean and has the longest period of frost-free season. Notably, it has the mildest climate among all the provinces and territories of Canada. Its capital city is Victoria located in Vancouver Island well-known to be the largest city and the most important urban centers of the country.

Alberta

Alberta is one of Canada’s province located in the Western part and is bordered by British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Edmonton is the province’s capital that is also known as the second largest city in Alberta and is also called “Canada’s Festival City” due to its all year-round slate of festivals. Alberta has a lot of rivers and lakes that can be used for swimming, fishing and even water sports. It is also the home to the famous Banff National Park which is Canada’s oldest national park, located in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains.

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan is Canada’s 7th largest province in terms of total area. Its capital city is Regina which is the second largest city of the province. Saskatchewan is also called as “Land of Living Skies” due to the province’s northern lights, blue skies with cotton-like clouds, and magnificent sunsets. The province is known for its cold winters and grain farming, they are the largest producers of potash and the province has a huge oil industry.

Manitoba

Manitoba is the center of Canada and ranks fifth as the most populous province of the country. The province is also known as Polar bear capital of the world due to thousands of polar bears that migrate from July to November. Winnipeg is its largest city and also the capital city of the province. It is the cultural and economic center of Manitoba. Winnipeg is also known for as “Cultural Cradle of Canada” because the city is home to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra as well as the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and many others.

Ontario

Ontario is the second largest province in Canada and the home to the nation’s capital city, Ottawa. Due to Ontario’s good job offers and high income, it is a magnet to most of Canada’s immigrants. New Brunswick

One of Canada’s four Atlantic Provinces is New Brunswick and is also one of the country’s smaller province. New Brunswick is a unique and maritime province located in the east-central coast of Canada. Summer in the province gets pretty warm and humid but gets very cold during winter. Located at the center of the province is Fredericton which is the provinces’ capital city. Majority of jobs in the city are related to public sector and a growing number of commercial sectors are IT; one of the best universities in the province is also located in Fredericton city. The province’s capital is also known as the “City at the Edge of Nature” because of its 88 km of hiking trails as well as Saint John River meandering through the city.

Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia is located in Canada’s East Coast and is completely surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Halifax is the province’s capital city; it is the province’s economic and cultural hub. Also, Halifax is Nova Scotia’s major international seaport and transportation center. Living in Nova Scotia is different from living in Canada’s major cities but the province has strong sense of family and community. Nova Scotia offers very beautiful picturesque villages on the ocean side and is very safe to live.

Newfoundland
and Labrador

Newfoundland and Labrador is Canada’s easternmost province; it is composed of Newfoundland Island and larger mainland, Labrador to the northwest of the province. The city of St. John’s is the capital of the province and its main financial, commercial, educational and cultural center. Because of this, the city is recognized for its vibrant arts and cultural community. Some of the top attractions in the province are Fisherman’s Museum that is located in Twillingate and the Aquarium in Petty Harbour. In connection to this, the city of St. John’s is known as the provinces’ main center for the offshore oil and gas industry.
