Canada Sets to Open More Airports to International Travel
Starting November 30, 2021, the same date wherein all passengers, as well as crew members, must prove that they are fully vaccinated to be able to board and depart from a Canadian airport, Canada will be reopening more airports for international flights. As said by Transport Minister Omar Alghabra through a media release; the increased vaccination level allowed them to re-open additional airports to international passenger flights safely. He also mentioned that this measure will surely help travelers access more regional airports for their travel this winter. Of course, with the continued support in Canada’s measured approach to border re-opening.
A total of eight additional airports will be re-opening that will accept international flights. Listed below are the list of the eight airports:
- Kelowna International
- Abbotsford International
- Victoria International
- St. John’s International
- John C. Munro Hamilton International
- Region of Waterloo International
- Regina International
- Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International
Meanwhile, below are the list of airports that are already accepting airports for Canadian destinations:
- Ottawa/Macdonald–Cartier International
- Toronto Pearson International
- Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre
- Winnipeg James/Armstrong Richardson International
- Edmonton International
- Calgary International
- Vancouver International
- Halifax Stanfield International
- Québec City Jean Lesage International
- Montréal-Trudeau International
Due to the global pandemic, the operational capacity of the airport will still continue to play a big role in how the Canadian government will determine which airport location can expand to international flights. However, with the recommendation coming from Health Canada, more airports could also start re-opening and welcome international travelers.
