Canadian Skilled Immigration Program Home Child Care Provider Pilot & The Home Support Worker Pilot is a five-year pilot program announced on June 18, 2019 that allows qualified candidates and family members to come to Canada with the goal of becoming permanent resident.

The Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot only provides work permits to caregivers who have a job offer in Canada with the following criteria:

  • Language test results reached CLB5 (Canadian Language Benchmark), equivalent to Ielts 5.0 in skills.
  • 2 (two) years of post-secondary education in Canada or equivalent foreign qualifications accepted in Canada.
  • 3 (three) years of work experience in related fields within the last 5 years (outside Canada).
  • Nurses who are already working in Canada on a work permit and who also meet the above criteria can still apply for permanent residence through the new pilot programs.
  • Experienced caregivers working in National Occupational Classification (NOC) group 4411 (excluding housekeepers) will be eligible to apply for permanent residence through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot.
  • Caregivers with work experience in NOC 4412 (excluding housekeepers) will be eligible for permanent residence through the Home Support Worker Pilot program.

IRCC said the new pilot program will have a standard 12-month processing time for work permit applications and a 6-month processing time for permanent residence (PR) applications from respondents. Meet work experience requirements.
