 In News

Good news to caregivers in Canada.

On the 10th of February 2023, IRCC announced that the in-Canada caregiver work experience requirement for permanent residency (PR) would be reduced to 12 months. Previously, in-Canada caregivers must have 24 months of experience in order to apply for permanent residency under two 5-year pilot programs:
1. Home Child Care Provider Pilot
2. Home Support Worker Pilot.

Furthermore, certain places have been reserved under the current caregiver pathways for caregivers who have previous work experience in Canada and are qualified to apply for permanent residency.

Caregivers in Canada.

Caregivers in Canada are individuals who provide in-home care for children, the elderly, or individuals with disabilities or medical conditions. Caregivers in Canada can either be foreign workers who come to Canada through the Live-in Caregiver Program or Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

The Live-in Caregiver Program allows foreign workers to come to Canada to provide in-home care for children, the elderly, or individuals with disabilities or medical conditions. The program requires that the caregiver live in the home of the person receiving care and work for a maximum of two years. After two years, the caregiver may be eligible to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Caregivers who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents can work in private homes or in facilities such as nursing homes or hospitals. They may be employed by a home care agency or work as independent contractors. Caregivers in Canada must meet certain requirements, such as having a criminal background check and completing relevant training and certification.

In recent years, there has been a growing demand for caregivers in Canada, driven by the aging population and the increasing need for in-home care. Caregiving can be a rewarding and fulfilling career, offering opportunities for personal and professional growth and helping to make a difference in the lives of those receiving care.
