Canada Will Soon Accept Scores from the PTE Test for Language Requirements

IRCC has designated Pearson Canada Inc. as a language testing organization.
Pearson Canada Inc. provides the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Essential English test, and IRCC will most likely begin recognizing PTE Essential English test scores in late 2023 to meet language requirements.

The Importance of PTE Essential.
To demonstrate their potential to economically establish in Canada, IRCC requires economic class candidates to take language proficiency testing. According to Statistics Canada, excellent English and/or French language ability is a strong predictor of economic integration in Canada.

Pearson Canada provides language assessment services for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC),  Pearson is one of the authorized providers of the English or French language tests that are required as part of the application process for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. The tests assess the language abilities of the candidates in speaking, reading, writing and listening, and are used by IRCC to determine their eligibility for immigration and citizenship.

PTE, IELTS and CELPIP
PTE will be one of three English-language examinations available to economic class candidates for use in their Canadian immigration applications, along with IELTS and CELPIP.

There will be a total of 5 language tests upon the approval of PTE Essential including French Tests: TEF Canada and TCF Canada.
