Canada will transition most PR programs to 100% online applications
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced new measures to improve client service and modernize Canada’s immigration system. On September 23, the Canadian government starts transitioning to 100% online applications for most permanent immigration programs.
The new Permanent Residence Online Application Portal for permanent immigration programs became available on March 31, 2021. This online option allows clients to apply from their devices and receive immediate confirmation that they have successfully submitted their applications. Since then, the portal has been expanded to most permanent residence programs.
The current modernization means that clients of the programs will exclusively be able to apply online. In case the submission of online applications is not available for clients and they require accommodations, for example, due to a disability, they can request an alternative format. Otherwise, applications that are received after the transition dates will be returned to applicants.
The dates of the programs falling under modernization are below.
