IRCC Updates Instructions for Procedures At Inland Offices About In-Canada Claims For Refugee Protection
Recently, Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship, and Canada posted an update to the procedures at inland offices with regards to in-Canada claims for refugee protection. It was stated in the update that the Global Management System (GCMS) and the Immigration and Refugee Board’s (IRB’s) Nova system allows the transfer as well as receipt of documents and data element via electronic sharing between the IRB, IRCC as well as the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). The objective of this is to make a piece of claim-related information that is available to the partners in a well-timed manner. This new functionality is set to use by the three mentioned organizations (IRCC, IRB, and CBSA) in not later than June 30, 2022, following the testing, change management, and a possible soft launch of certain critical functionality.
