Newfoundland and Labrador: Provincial Immigration Fees Eliminated in 2022 Budget

Effective immediately, the government of Newfoundland and Labrador eliminates fees under the province’s Provincial Nominee Program as part of their Budget 2022: Change is in the air. It was said by the Honorable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, that by the means of eliminating the immigration processing fees, the government is again acknowledging the immense benefit that the newcomers bring to Newfoundland and Labrador while making the immigration more affordable.

A wide range of free services was being provided by the staff with the provincial Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism to all newcomers as well as employers, this also includes assistance with preparing and submitting applications through the Atlantic Immigration Program as well as the Provincial Nominee Program.

The said eliminated fees include the $250 application fee for an individual who’s applying as a skilled worker and the $1,000 application fee for an individual who’s applying as an entrepreneur in Newfoundland and Labrador. This step of removing the immigration application fees is the province’s latest action that help builds on a suite of initiatives to assist newcomers. The province’s latest initiative will help assist in reaching its determined goal of welcoming a total of 5,100 newcomers to the province annually by 2026, and also positioning Newfoundland and Labrador as Canada’s national leader in immigration settlement and retention.
