April 8, 2022 – The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada issued another program delivery instructions for work permits under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program; it has been updated and included the instructions for the permanent Atlantic Immigration Class or now referred to as Atlantic Immigration Program.

These updated instructions do not apply to the Canada Border Services Agency due to applicants are not eligible to apply under this program at the port of entry. The IRCC has now included transition provisions in the updated bilateral agreements and allowed the following authority starting January 1, 2022:

  1. Up to March 5, 2022, complete permit applications under the Pilot will be accepted and processed up to midnight UTC. As long as the completed application was submitted and received by March 5, 2022, processing of the application may still push through beyond the said date.
  2. Applications for work permit renewal under the Pilot will be accepted if the complete application for permanent residence was submitted on or before March 5, 2022, and are still currently waiting for a decision.
