Other Situations: IRCC Update Its Atlantic Immigration Pilot Programs
On December 31, 2021, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Programs (AIPP) closed with the expiration of the pilot bilateral agreement. The Ministerial Instructions has expired on March 5, 2022, which granted the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship (IRCC) authority to accept pilot applications until the expiration date. Note that the processing may still be continued beyond the expiration date given that the complete applications were submitted and received on or before March 5, 2022,
For a change in the situation, the applicant who submitted an application to the AIPP for permanent residence, and those who subsequently have a change in their respective situation, such as change of employees, loss of employment, change of address, change of family composition, or any other changes that may affect their eligibility in applying for the program that they are applying for must inform the IRCC in writing using the department’s web form. In the instance that an applicant who submitted an application for permanent residence under the AIPP, holds a valid work permit, and subsequently moves from one designated employer to another designated employer must instantly:
- Inform the province/territory regarding the change in employer through writing
- Ask the province/territory to change the endorsement certificate and replace it with the new employer along with the effective date of the change, and all other relevant information
- Ask the province/territory to issue a support letter that indicates that the province continues to support the endorsement for permanent residence under the AIPP
- Let the IRCC know about the change in employment through the web form, upload the modified endorsement certificate as well as the new support letter from the province/territory through IRCC’s webform
For Work Permit, you must:
- Submit a request from the province to issue a new support letter for a new work permit
- Apply for a new work permit with a designated AIPP employer
If you are applying for a PR under the AIPP and have changes in family composition like becoming a common-law partner, getting married, either having or adopting a child, the applicant must update their AIPP PR applications. The applicant must immediately send their add-on request to the IRCC through its web form and must attach the following supporting documents along with the form:
- A new Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008) with supporting documents
- A Schedule A – Background/Declaration (IMM 5669) form (if applicable)
