Canada Sets A New Record And Invited More Than 1,000 PNP Candidates
This year, Canada is expected to hold only Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws for the meantime. It was not mentioned by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser when will Canada resume its draws for Express Entry candidates who are qualified for other Canadian immigration programs such as the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Foreign Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) as well as the Federal Skilled Trade Program (FSTP). However, Minister Fraser assured the press that the said pause is only temporary. While having a temporary pause in some immigration pathways, Canada continues to hold Express Entry draws for provincial nominees.
January 2, 2022 – Canada held its latest round of draw and invited a total of 1,070 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian immigration. Only PNP candidates having a Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) of 674 points were invited by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The reason why the score requirement for this draw is higher than the typical all-program draw is that PNP candidates automatically receive 600 points upon receiving a nomination and it will be added to the total of their score. The lowest-scoring candidates would only need 74 base CRS points without the nomination.
This recent draw takes the record for being the biggest PNP-only draw beating the one held on January 19 where the immigration invited a total of 1,06 PNP candidates. For this recent draw, invited candidates were given 60 calendar days to apply for their Canadian permanent residence.
