Here’s a Summary On How You Could Immigrate to Canada This Year
Planning to pursue that Canadian dream of yours? If your goal for 2022 is to be able to finally immigrate to Canada, here is a summary of Canadian immigration programs that can surely help you become a permanent resident in Canada.
However, still, keep in mind that Canada still has travel restrictions that must be followed during this time of the pandemic. To start the year, the Canadian government reestablished its requirements for all incoming travelers to undergo pre-arrival PCR tests. In addition to this, starting January 15, foreign travelers arriving in Canada must be fully vaccinated with a recognized manufacturer by Canada.
Without further a due, here are some options you can take to help you become a permanent resident in Canada this 2022:
Express Entry
This is the most known as well as the main immigration pathway to Canada. Express Entry holds three economic-class immigration programs, namely: Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). If you qualify for one of these mentioned programs, you may also be able to apply for a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that is also aligned with Express Entry, however, it is not requisite for all PNP’s as some of the PNP’s are managed by a province’s own application system and they may be eligible for some applicants who ate not qualified for Express Entry.
Take note that not everyone who submits their profile on the Express Entry system will be able to apply for immigration as the Express Entry system operates via a pointing system. Your score increases for having a high language score, having at least a year of skilled work experience, having a post-secondary education, and being between the age of 20-29. Aside from these, there are other factors that could add up to your points such as having a French language proficiency, having a valid Canadian job offer, or having a sibling in Canada. With that, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada invite the highest-scoring candidates in the Express Entry pool to apply for nomination through its bi-weekly draws. Express Entry gets a segment of its own as this pathway allows you to apply for Canadian immigration to any province or territory other than Quebec.
Provincial Nominee Program
If you happen to not qualify for the Express Entry, or you just want to get extra points, PNP can be your option. Every province and territory in Canada has its PNP other than Quebec and Nunavut. To suit each province or territories own economic and population growth strategies, they tailor these programs. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has two categories; the first is Enhanced PNP that uses the Express Entry pool to draw their candidates and the other one is Base PNP that operates independently from Express Entry.
Family Sponsorship
If you have a relative living in Canada, you may qualify for family sponsorship. Canadians can sponsor their dependent children, spouses or common-law partners, and also their parents and grandparents. There are some cases where a Canadian may also be eligible to sponsor other family members. For a Canadian to do so, one must first meet the eligibility criteria on both sides of the sponsorship process. Below are some of the criteria that need to be met
- Must be able to demonstrate the capability to financially support both you and the person to be sponsored
- The person to be sponsored must pass the criminal and medical admissibility criteria
- Both must demonstrate that their relationship is true and genuine
