More than 700 Candidates Receive Invitation to Apply for PR
December 22, 2021 – Canada held its latest round of draw and invited a total of 746 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence. Previously, these invited candidates received a nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and received an additional 600 points that were added to their base human capital score. With that being mentioned, the minimum cut-off score for this recent draw is 720 points. The previous PNP draw resulted in a record-breaking 1,032 invited immigration candidates to apply to have a minimum score requirement of 698 points.
This latest draw is Canada’s eighth draw in a row since September. As stated in an internal briefing memo, the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship has put their Canadian Experience Class (CEC) invitation rounds to pause as they need to catch up on their backlogs. Before the IRCC considers resuming inviting immigration candidates from other programs, the department had mentioned that they wanted to cut the Express Entry backlogs at least in half.
