Saskatchewan Launches Pilot for Its New Immigration Program
November 25, 2021 – Hard-To-Fill Skills Pilot is the new immigration pilot that was announced by Saskatchewan. Through this, employers in Saskatchewan will be able to recruit international talent for a certain in-demand occupation. Entry-level positions that might require on-the-job training will be included in the eligible jobs under this pilot. Hospitality, health, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, ag-tech, and construction are the sectors that have the highest labor demands in Saskatchewan.
Hard-To-Fill Skills pilot is said to launch in December 2021. Workers will be receiving a nomination through Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) stream must be supported by their employees as well as the community. Some of the eligibility criteria for the candidates of the Hard-To-Fill-Skills pilot are as follows:
- Must meet the minimum Canadian official language proficiency level
- Must have full-time, permanent offer of employment as well as SINP job approval letter for an eligible occupation from a registered Saskatchewan employer.
- Must meet the minimum requirements for work and educational experience that includes having at least one year of work experience matching the occupation to the job offer or six months work experience in the same job in Saskatchewan.
For an employer to be eligible, they must have to demonstrate that they have made extensive efforts to hire domestically before they can use the pilot for their recruitment.
