Are you from India? Migrate to Canada Today!
Every year, tens and thousands of newcomers arrive in Canada and most of the newcomers are from India, making the country home to the world’s eighth-largest Indian diaspora. Are you planning on becoming one of them? Did you know that you have plenty of ways to do so? There are more than 100 economic class immigration programs that are available to help you become an immigrant to Canada; these programs include the Express Entry -managed programs, Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP), and more.
Below are some of the pathways you may consider to immigrate to Canada from India:
Express Entry
This is the most popular pathway among individuals who wanted to come to Canada. Express Entry is an online system that manages immigration applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Express Class, and Federal Skilled Trade Program. If you happen to be eligible for either one of the mentioned programs, you could create a profile and enter your information into the Express Entry pool and get a score that is based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The said points are based on your education, age, skilled work experience, and language ability for English and French. Through a round of invites, the highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Provincial Nominee Program
With a goal of supporting the regional labor market challenges, this certain program has been developed by the provinces and territories of Canada; except for the province of Nunavut at Quebec, almost all of the provinces and territories within Canada participate in this program. There are two types of PNP’s; one is “enhanced” and the other is “base” programs that both operate independently. The enhanced program pulls from the pool of candidates in the Express Entry who received a provincial nomination and received an additional 600 points from being nominated that helped them be pushed to the top of the pool that guaranteed them to receive an ITA in a subsequent Express Entry Draw. Meanwhile, if a candidate is not eligible for the Express Entry, base PNP is another option. For you to be able to immigrate through this program, you will have to apply to the province of your choice, and given that you are qualified you will receive a nomination. With the certificate you received through the nomination, you can now apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
Study – Work in Canada
Immigrants who come to Canada to study and work prior to getting their permanent residency have mostly a high potential of earning high than those who come directly abroad. To study in Canada, you must need a study permit which also allows you to work for up to 10 hours per week during your school year while full-time during academic breaks. If an Indian meets the program’s eligibility criteria such as being able to pay the first year’s tuition, they may be eligible for an expedited study permit through the Student Direct Stream.
Work Permit
Under this pathway, there are two broad categories, specifically, Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and International Mobility Program (IMP). Through TFWP, the Canadian employer is required to get a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This process is a way for the employer to prove that hiring a foreign worker will have a positive impact on the labour market of Canada. While for the IMP, LMIA’s are not needed because its aim is to promote Canada’s broad economic, cultural policy, and social objectives. This program is for key personnel in a certain position of the company who wanted to transfer from their branch in India to a certain location in Canada.
