Alberta PNP: How to Immigrate Without A Job Offer?

 In Blog

Planning to immigrate to Alberta but you don’t have any valid job offer to do so? Well, the Alberta Express Entry stream might be your great option. Express Entry System is the most known immigration pathway towards Canada. But did you know that the Provincial Nominee Program is an equally promising pathway towards migrating to Canada? The Express Entry system is based on a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) wherein points are accumulated based on human capital factors. Meanwhile, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is introduced to make sure of a more balanced distribution of immigration benefits throughout the whole of Canada. Through this program, candidates were given an opportunity to be nominated by the participating provinces or territories for permanent residence.  Canada’s PNP differ from different provinces and territories, each determines their own list of nomination requirements. A candidate must first be nominated by the province or territory for them to be able to immigrate through PNP.

Alberta is the fourth largest province in Canada, having Calgary and Edmonton as the province’s two top cities; this makes Alberta one of the top choices for newcomers to migrate to. As reported by the provinces’ population estimates, Alberta welcomes more or less 40,000 new immigrants yearly. This number makes Alberta the third-highest in the country sharing 13% of the immigrants in Canada.

Question is, can you immigrate to Canada through Alberta’s Express Entry stream without having any valid job offer? If you are a foreign national who wishes to live, work and eventually migrate to Alberta, you can apply through Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). Alberta Express Entry does not require their applicants to have a valid job offer to be qualified. It is an enhanced PNP that is linked to the federal Express Entry system. Once a candidate received an invite, they will receive an additional 600 points from the province that will be added to their CRS scores. With the additional score they receive, the candidate has now a guaranteed chance to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence.

An Express Entry profile indicating their interest in permanently living in Alberta is a must for a candidate to be able to receive a notification of interest from Alberta under the said stream. In connection to this, for a candidate to be eligible to receive a notification, one must:

  • Have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300 points
  • Have a valid Express Entry profile in the system of IRCC
  • work in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development
  • have the interest to immigrate to Alberta

To date, a total number of 5,910 immigration candidates have already received their nominations of interest from Alberta through the Alberta Express Entry stream.
