TR to PR Pathway to Close on November 5
November 5, 2021 – As confirmed by the Canadian government, the pathway for TR to PR will be closed and the deadline to submit an application will no longer be extended and new applications will no longer be accepted after the said date. However. Those who applied previously will still be able to sign in to the online portal if they wish to view their submission.
TR to PR programs that were launched on May 6 was originally created to provide immigration options to all essential workers, French speakers, and international student graduates. The Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship, and Canada (IRCC) targeted to accept 90,000 new immigrants under the English programs alone, however, it might fall short even if it’s combined with the applications from the French streams. Due to a system glitch, the IRCC accepted about 7,307 additional international stream graduate applications. Across all three programs, it was reported that almost 6,000 have applied for the French streams.
All in all, the combined numbers could result in an estimated total of 89,500 applications for these streams not including some of them coming in by mail to accommodate those applicants with disabilities. The said programs were introduced to help the IRCC welcome 401,000 new immigrants to Canada this year. The plan was to accept as many temporary residents as possible while travel restrictions hinder foreign-approved permanent residents from completing their landing until June. To date, Canada has already admitted a total of 267,000 new immigrants after accepting more than 45,00 in the month of September alone.
