U.S Sets to Reopen Land Border for Canadian Tourists

Good news to all Canadians! As announced, U.S. is set to reopen its land border for all fully vaccinated travelers from Canada. Starting November 2021, non-essential travels from Canada is now open and Canadians will be able to cross the U.S. land border given that they are already fully vaccinated.

In a government media release, Secretary of Homeland Security Mayorkas stated that all fully vaccinated travelers coming from Canada as well as Mexico will also be able to enter the country via land and seaports. It was also mentioned that this entry may also include a visit to friends and family or may only be for tourism. In connection to this, he also mentioned that this cross-border travel will create an outstanding economic activity in the border communities that will surely benefit the border economy.

This border reopening is set to happen in two phases, in November, all fully vaccinated travelers are permitted to cross the border and enter U.S via land or ferry was given that they have proof of vaccination, those who are not yet fully vaccinated won’t be able to cross the border. The second phase will happen in early January 2022, just like the first phase, the U.S border will also be requiring essential and non-essential travelers to be fully vaccinated prior to their entry to the country. As to the exact date to when this new travel rule will take place, there are currently no guidelines and we are yet to wait for further release.
