India flight restriction extends until September
August 10, 2021 – Transport Canada confirmed that all direct flights connecting India and Canada will remain suspended and restrictions will be extended until September 12, 2021. This extension includes all direct commercial and private passenger flights. However, medical transfers, cargo operations, as well as military flights are allowed to directly go between India and Canada.
This additional one-month extension of flight restrictions from India is part of Canada’s continuous public health measure. For a traveler to be able to enter Canada, an indirect route must be taken. No matter what immigration status a traveler holds, a pre-arrival test coming from a third country is mandatory and the said test must be taken within 72 hours of their final departure going to Canada.
It was last April 2021 when Canada banned all direct flights to and from India, this was due to a high volume of travelers from India that tests positive for COVID-19. However, this restriction was lifted in June 2021.
