QEP now requires spouses of applicants to have basic French knowledge

July 22, 2021 – Applications for Quebec Experience Program that include spouses will now be required to exemplify their knowledge of the spoken French language. Spouses of applicants must now correspond their ability to speak on the Quebec Scale of Proficiency in French for Adult Immigrants to a minimum of level 4.

With this, all spouses are now required to meet the requirement and to submit a complete declaration of their French knowledge along with the supporting documents stated below:
• Verification of French results or certificates like TEF, TCF, or TEFAQ.
• Final copy of transcript that certifies the successful completion of at least three years of full-time study in French and must be either in secondary or post-secondary level.
• Verification from a recognized education institution stating the successful completion of a French course in Quebec.
• A certificate or any document coming from a professional order such as final transcript vouching of successful completion of at least three years of studies, a license to practice, or an authentication of successful completion of the French language exam by the Quebec québécois de la langue française for professional orders.

The main applicant must have a minimum level of 7 on their Quebec Scale of Proficiency in French for Adult Immigrants that includes listening and speaking ability aside from demonstrating their proficiency in spoken French language as it is an essential component of all applications for the Quebec Experience Program.
