EE ITA Application Period Rolls Back from 90 to 60 Days

 In News

Due to COVID-19 measures, Express Entry applicants were allowed to submit their applications within 90 days upon receiving their invitation. However, as of June 29, 2021, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reverted the application to 60 calendar days. All Express Entry candidates will again have 60 calendar days to submit their application upon receiving an invite.

Since March 2020, the global pandemic caused service interruptions and event halting flights. As part of the new COVID-19 related measure, the IRCC extended the application period allowing all applicants to have enough time to prepare all the required documents needed for submission. As per IRCC’s update for the application time frame rolling back from 90 calendar days to 60 calendar days, it will allow the department to process high amount of applications.

Applicants who were and are still affected by the COVID-related public health restrictions will have special measures as IRCC provides a list on its government webpage. They were pertaining to those who are still processing applications, who have not yet applied for Canadian immigration, those with valid Confirmation of Permanent Residency (CoPR) holders, and others.

However, all candidates who received their invitation to apply before June 29, 2021 still have 90 days to submit their application for permanent residence. This means that candidates who got invited from the previous Express Entry are not affected as the new measures will take place to all Express Entry candidates who will be invited in the future draws.
